About the Role

Southeastern Healthcare of NC, Inc. is in search of a polished and experienced Facility Cook. The Facility Cook is responsible for cooking and preparing food according to recipes and production guidelines while adhering to food safety, food handling, and sanitation procedures. The Facility Cook should safely handle knives and equipment such as fryers, ovens, broilers, etc. Essential functions and responsibilities of the position may vary by Southeastern Healthcare based on client requirements and business needs. The Facility Cook should have experience in cooking for large groups, cooking and preparing special diets and following doctor’s orders on meal preparation.

Responsibilities: (But not limited to)

•. Oversee the day-to-day operations at the organization and other places that serve and prepare food and beverages.
• Plan for and purchase food for the food service program.
• Ensure food in storage meets adequate levels of nutrition and sustenance.
• Maintain required records including food production, inventory, meal counts
• Ensure the program follows proper sanitation procedures.
• Ensure safety standards are maintained while food is being cooked.
• Prepare and serve the food.
• Follow menus.
• Maintain equipment, including refrigerators, stoves, and microwaves.
• Ensure the dining experience is satisfactory.
• Direct the cleaning of the kitchen including the utensils.
• Keep records of supplies and purchases.
• Complete all documentation required of regulatory guidelines, accreditation standards, and organizational policy and procedures.
• Wash all dishes
• Follow any other directive given by your supervisor

Requirements

Knowledge, Skill, and Ability:


• Polished professional with an outgoing attitude, be a team player.

• Demonstrated excellent organizational, coordinating, and personal interface skills.

• Proven job diligence, dedication, and attention to detail.

• Comfort and experience interfacing with various staff and management levels while working in a fast-paced environment.

 • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with the public successfully, other employees, and vendors.

 

Education and Formal Training:

•  High School diploma or GED. Associate degree in food service or culinary preferred

•  Current ServSafe Certification preferred

 

Experience:

• At least 2 years experience as a Cook and/or Food Handler in a medical facility.

• Preference to experience within the service industry.
